top| features | ease of use | value for money | meets expectations |
| Expertise: | IT-knowledgeable electronics engineer |
| Strengths: | Lifetime warranty !!! No-quibble replacement policy. There is also a 5-year "data recovery" policy (effective in SA) that covers you in case you suffer data loss as a result of a power surge or lighting strike. Sturdy, good features, looks good. LED that tells you if the mains protection is OK and if the power socket is correctly wired. |
| Weaknesses: | Surge-protection components on the phone-line part of the device may be under-rated for South African conditions. Mine got fried doing its job. The wall-mount scheme (keyhole slots) is not that effective - the unit has a tendency to fall off the wall. Other than that, great. |
| Best uses: | Single-point protection for 5 AC devices and a telephone line (especially if you have ADSL) |
| Similar products used: | Surge-protection products for Clearline (South Africa) |
| I recommend also: | APC surge protection! (To be honest, Clearline's "connected equipment" insurance policy is also pretty good) |
